CARPY 2018 Ski Trip

The Annual Youth Ministry Ski Trip

First off, a BIG thank you goes out to Dan and Julie Felker for, once again, allowing us to use their place in Beech Mountain, NC to stay during our Ski Trip! Another BIG thank you to Dan Felker and Carol Finethy for their loving support of the youth at Centennial ARP Church by sacrificing their holiday weekend by chaperoning on this trip AND for using their skills in preparing meals, helping with transport and being there for the youth.  What a blessing it is to have the body of Christ come together to support each other.

Skiing, Tubing, Ice Skating, Food, Fellowship, Worship and so much more!

We had a great time up there. We arrived at the house on Friday, January 12th around 10:00 PM and unpacked our stuff and immediately the snow began to fall. We played a game or two before heading to bed.

Saturday

On Saturday, we woke up, played some games and had breakfast. We went to the Ski Resort to go tubing and they weren't able to open the tubing area until later due to the weather conditions and the condition of the tubing slopes. So we headed back to the house for lunch. After lunch, those who were going skiing left to go skiing. Ryan took Patrick Finethy, Emma Wooten, and Constance Nobles out on the slopes to ski.  The temperature Saturday was around 11-14 degrees all day with a wind chill of -7 degrees. It was cold! The rest stayed at the condo, took a nap, played games together or walked to the pond to toss and skip rocks off the ice. Those who went skiing came back to the house after 5:00 for dinner. Once we finished dinner we went to Fred's General Store for, believe it or not, ice cream. I, Ryan, think they're crazy.  For dinner, we had chicken tetrazzini prepared by Carol Finethy and it was delicious.  From there we played games, watched a movie and enjoyed each other's company the rest of the evening before heading to bed.

Sunday

Sunday morning we had a big breakfast and enjoyed some french toast casserole.  After breakfast, we all gathered in the basement for a time of worship and singing and a time of devotions together.  Then we headed out to Ski Beech to go Ice Skating and Snow Tubing.  We ate a late lunch followed by fellowship, games, and dinner. After dinner, everyone packed up all things not needed for the next day.

Monday

On Monday morning we woke up, ate breakfast and then cleaned the house.  We left Beech Mountain, NC shortly after 10:00 AM.  We stopped at the original Mast General Store in Valley Crucis, NC and then made the trek back to the church where we arrived shortly after 4:00 PM.

Again, a BIG thank you to Dan Felker and Carol Finethy for taking the time to be on the trip with these youth and for their help while on the trip. We had a FANTASTIC time! Can't wait for next year!
