No Famine, All Feast

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord GOD,
“when I will send a famine on the land—
not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,
but of hearing the words of the LORD.
They shall wander from sea to sea,
and from north to east;
they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the LORD,
but they shall not find it.
— Amos 8:11, 12

How should we define the year of 2020 for Centennial ARP Church? Should it be the year we survived? How about the year we got internet in the sanctuary? Will it be the year we made all the right decisions, or the year we made all the wrong decisions? Is it the year of fear? Or how about this:

2020 is the year Centennial ARP Church provided God’s Word the most since its inception.

Can you believe that? Since this began, God’s Word has been provided in an almost overwhelming slew of opportunities at Centennial. Bible studies have continued (some have been born!), daily devotions are provided Monday through Friday, Lord’s Day worship and Sunday School opportunities (for adults and youth) happen on Sunday, family worship with children’s resources being sent weekly, and that’s outside the veritable smorgasbord of online resources being shared by our church members on and off social media. Even listing these, I’m certain there’s some missing!

Dear Christian, fall down and praise God with me for not withdrawing from us during this season! Worship and praise the God who has provided, sustained, and blessed in the midst of trial, suffering, and tragedy. Fear not! Our God is working.

Believe it or not, it is no famine and all feast at Centennial. Today, in the midst of craziness and absurdity, will you ponder on God’s good gift to us? Let it inform our actions and thought, let it inform our prayer and praise. Blessings from a “full” pastor,

Jeremiah
